In their defense, the whole darn country thought the war would only last a season.

Besides, in an issue where half of America is one way and the other half the other, it makes sense that they'd elect representatives that mirror their own views. Change the popular perception, and you'll change the elected rep's. Or even just the rep's voting pattern. :) KC
