We got a DVD burner for the computer! The vids look even better on DVD, none of the jerkiness of VHS.

Installing it was a matter of much profanity, esp. as Mudd tried to put the screws into what turned out to be black dots and not actual holes. He no longer has any sensations in his fingertips from trying to get the power plug out.

But it's in, and it works. There was beautiful ham for dinner from the crock pot. 6 hours on low with a can of Coke in made it tender enough to cut with a fork.

I got actual work accomplished at work.

And I'm still squeeing over my feedback from [livejournal.com profile] boniblithe's feedback challenge. Now to finish submitting my own.

[livejournal.com profile] permetaform has 2 vids:

"The Fragile" by Nine Inch Nails and "Why" by Stabbing Westward.

"The Fragile" is a Fifth Element vid, the only one I've ever seen. She does a splendid job of setting the mood of the vid and matching the clips to the music. (I can't speak for the lyrics as all I got was the chorus) She captures both the fragility and the strength of Leloo, and the intensity of Corbin's love for her. The tech aspects were fabulous. I liked the effect of slowing the motion and leaving ghost images behind. A lovely vid, but unfortunately a guitar-heavy song that needs to be played with the volume very low.

"Why" is a Smallville vid. I really, really like this one. We are taken inside Lex's tortured mind as he languishes in Smallville's mental hospital. He is remembering the relationship with Clark--I don't know if this was to be a slash vid or not, but it sure looked like one to me--and the rivalry with his father. Even Mudd commented "Those Luthors are trying to kill each other." We see not only the odd moments of Clark, but also Lex's slow deterioration. Another technically well-done vid, with good use of the Film Aging effect and overlays.
