To Harry Chapin's "Taxi"

It was a sunny day on Coruscant
I was just about ready to lift
When a man all in black came onto the pad
and I felt my whole world shift.

"where ya goin' to, my Jedi Blue?
There's a little bit of space left to spare."
He just walked up the loading ramp and said
"Where you're going I'm there."

All the memories were familiar
I knew his face as well as my own
He said "That time for us has passed"
And he disappeared and left me alone.

It took a while, but he came forward,
And challenged me to a game.
A smile seemed to come to him slowly,
It was a sad smile, just the same.
And he said, "How are you Han?"
I said, "How are you Luke?
Through the too many miles
and the too little smiles
I still am loving you."

It was somewhere inside a fairy tale
I saved him now and then with my ship
He learned about life and I learned about love
and all because of one little trip

But he was going to be a Jedi
And I just had to fly
He stayed to study his feelings
I took off for the sky.

There was not much more for us to talk about,
Whatever we had once was gone.
So I landed my bird on the docking bay
And he picked up his gear and then stopped.

And he said "We must get together."
But I knew it'd never come to there
And he handed me a voucher for 17K
and said "Han, your standard fare."

Well another man might have been angry
And another man might have been hurt
But another man never would have let him go
I stuck the voucher in my shirt.

And he walked away in silence,
It's strange, how you never know,
But we'd both gotten what we'd asked for,
Such a long, long time ago.

See he was going to be a Jedi
And I just had to fly
He stayed put to study his feelings
I took off for the sky.

And now he's feeling nothing
locked away inside the Force.
And me, I'm still flying with my lady
And staying hard on that course.

The Game eats you alive on that course...

LOL. But Weird Al look so cute in a Paddlewan 'do!

"Smelly" = "I don't care what you smell"?

Would they take a slashy filk if they're gen?
(Gen to me means no romance, no love, nothing. )

Yep, 'Smelly' = 'I Don't Care What You Smell'. I suppose everybody defines 'gen' differently, but there's plenty o' heterosexual romance in Smelly. Except for the one line in your filk, about 'loving you', the sentiment is more subtexty and could easily be interpreted simply as a loss of friendship by those so inclined, so I'd think something ambiguous as this could get into a gen SW zine. Certainly Delusions of Grandeur would publish a semi-slashy filk or fic, as they did last year.
