Slashy Filk

To Harry Chapin's "Taxi"
It was a sunny day on Coruscant
I was just about ready to lift
When a man all in black came onto the pad
and I felt my whole world shift.
"where ya goin' to, my Jedi Blue?
There's a little bit of space left to spare."
He just walked up the loading ramp and said
"Where you're going I'm there."
All the memories were familiar
I knew his face as well as my own
He said "That time for us has passed"
And he disappeared and left me alone.
It took a while, but he came forward,
And challenged me to a game.
A smile seemed to come to him slowly,
It was a sad smile, just the same.
And he said, "How are you Han?"
I said, "How are you Luke?
Through the too many miles
and the too little smiles
I still am loving you."
It was somewhere inside a fairy tale
I saved him now and then with my ship
He learned about life and I learned about love
and all because of one little trip
But he was going to be a Jedi
And I just had to fly
He stayed to study his feelings
I took off for the sky.
There was not much more for us to talk about,
Whatever we had once was gone.
So I landed my bird on the docking bay
And he picked up his gear and then stopped.
And he said "We must get together."
But I knew it'd never come to there
And he handed me a voucher for 17K
and said "Han, your standard fare."
Well another man might have been angry
And another man might have been hurt
But another man never would have let him go
I stuck the voucher in my shirt.
And he walked away in silence,
It's strange, how you never know,
But we'd both gotten what we'd asked for,
Such a long, long time ago.
See he was going to be a Jedi
And I just had to fly
He stayed put to study his feelings
I took off for the sky.
And now he's feeling nothing
locked away inside the Force.
And me, I'm still flying with my lady
And staying hard on that course.
The Game eats you alive on that course...

Thanks
Date: 2003-01-02 06:00 pm (UTC)They said "Do it anyway." So I did. (Better this than La Vida Yoda or The Saga Begins, both of which are on the same CD)
LOL at the zine comment. Between this and "Tell it like it is" (which Sanctuary Moon wanted and No Holds Barred got) I feel so loved. Are the zines so desperate they're reduced to begging my livejournal doodles?
Sheesh, just say "Angel, I need another story from you!"
This is for the list. It needs something. All my recent work has been zine focused.
You're Welcome
Date: 2003-01-02 06:11 pm (UTC)I'm pleased to hear the filk is going to the list. You're right, it's been far too quiet - perhaps this will generate a little discussion. :) As far as the zine comment was concerned, though, I was thinking of a gen zine. One of 'Smelly's' strong offerings has been excellent filks, and this one seemed appropriate for that venue.

Would they take a slashy filk if they're gen?
(Gen to me means no romance, no love, nothing. )

Date: 2003-01-03 12:42 am (UTC)This comment cracked me up. *BG* I was tempted to reply, "You have no idea -- we'll take your old .sig files, grocery lists, outgoing phone messages, whatever you've got." But nah, seriously, it's not desperation, it's just that we love what you've been doing. *g*
