valarltd: (holiday)

You know the drill

Step One:
Make an LJ post. It can be public or friends only, whatever you’re most comfortable with. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes, and these wishes can be anything - from simple and fandom-related (a fan fiction written about your favorite pairing), to medium (a DVD you want), to really extravagant (a brand new laptop or car). Just make sure these are wishes for things you really, truly want.

If you’re wishing for things that must be mailed to you, like a DVD, make sure you include some sort of contact information in your post. This can be your mailing address or your email address, it doesn’t matter which. Just make sure Santa (or one of his elves) can somehow get in touch with you. :)

Also make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ. The main reason for the holiday wish lists is to spread the joy of giving.

Step Two:
Skim through your friends list and see who has posted their own wish lists. Then - and this is the most important part - if you find a wish you can grant, and it’s in your heart to do so, make sure that person’s wish come true. Sometimes a person’s trash is another person’s treasure. If you have a leather jacket you don’t want or a gift certificate you’re never going to use, give it to someone who wants it.

Step Three:
Post this wish list any time after November 1st. Then repost it two weeks before Christmas.

Remember: You don’t need to spend money on these wishes to make them come true. Only spend money if you want to. The point isn’t to put people out, or to throw yourself into further in financial debt. The point of this is to provide everyone a chance to be someone’s secret Santa, to show someone what the holiday season is all about. Gifts can be made anonymously or not. It’s all up to you.

1) BPAL. Spare imps, anything.

2) Any beginning books on paganism. I have the Complete Idiot's Guide and Higgenbotham's Paganism. Anything else you've outgrown or progressed beyond would be hepful. Child-focused is even better. (website links are great too)

3) My Amazon Wishlist Of course, if you have copies of any of the books--esp the gardening ones--that you're not using, those would be great.

4) Yarn. crochet hooks, knitting needles. I lose the hooks like they're rings of power.

5) Buy my books! Any of them! Then leave an LJ post telling me what you thought, whether it was sweet or you just want to thumb your nose and go phbbbbbbbbt!

6) Make a donation to your local GLBT center or GLBT youth organization.

7) Give blood. If you can't give blood, volunteer at a convention's blood drive.

8) Donate to Toys for Tots or Project Linus. Both of them do amazing work.

9) Resolve to put out love in the next year. It sounds spacy and new-agey, but I believe what you put out comes back. If you're putting out anger and hatred, try something different. I am,. I won't always succeed, but I will make an effort to have more good days than bad.

10) Resolve to visit The Hunger Site or Free Rice weekly.

Will UPS ship the kid?
I mean, I know I collect extra kids, but this is ridiculous! 8) Ah well, we'll scramble the eggs and water the soup.

I can send you all the Flogging Molly on your Amazon list (plus some), if you don't mind that it's copies. I have the original disks somewhere, but my dear husband takes music from my horde and puts it in his car, where it is never seen again.

And watch him. All your Flogging Molly will turn into the Best of Queen.

Oh! And is there any particular type of yarn you're wanting? Colors? Amount? I have partials of a lot of stuff left over from weaving projects if that would interest you. And a couple things from weaving projects that ended up not happening because my client disappeared (after I bought the yarn, but before paying me).

You can cross Brust's Orca and Dragon off your list, and I have a handful of BPAL imps I can send along as well. 8-) Oh, and some crochet hooks if I can find them.

Mailed today, with delivery confirmation. I hope that's okay -- I wanted to make sure it got to you, not to some dead letter bin or whatever. 8-)

Also, I went to the Free Rice site and got up to Level 50, my highest yet! Yes, I know, feeding the hungry and all, but...vocabulary!
