She brought home a flier from school. It came from the Assembly of God church family fest. "Meet the Real Iron Man! Jesus!" "Trunk or Treat! Sun Nov 2" etc etc.

She said "it's only for Christians, right?" as she carried it to the wastebasket.

I said "No, they want nonchristian kids to come so they'll learn about Jesus and become Christian."

She dropped it in the trash. "Well, I'm not falling for THAT trick."

It's standard fare

Bright orange, says Jesus about 5 times all over it. Has a bunch of events listed "Bring your parents!"

We're in the Bible Belt, where the PTO meetings open with Protestant prayer.

It's a shame someone doesn't run TV ads about religious groups trying to brainwash your children in the public schools. (Very sick of the right-wing prop 8 commercials so the double-standard strikes me particularly bad)

I saw the one where the little girl dashes home from school, gushing about having had King and King read to her.

If my daughter was that excited about marrying a princess, it would be more reason to get behind marriage equality.

Dollface is very pagan. She is completely behind the idea of Father God and Mother Goddess, because it MAKES SENSE to her. She has a mommy and daddy. A father God with a son who is also God was too weird.

I have to agree with her on the general premise. Vegan Vamps who Brood sounds like Angel without the fun factor

But I have a completely inappropriate obsession with Robert, goes back to Cedric Diggory, which probably isn't something that I should admit.
