I'm willing to turn in my feminist card, and my pagan card, for this wicked thought.

If you haven't heard, a West Hollywood household put up a Halloween display that included John McCain roasting in hellfire and Sarah Palin in a noose.

My first thought was "Her dress should be black, not red."

After being horrified at myself for that,
my next was "What does she expect, palling around with witch-hunters? The only difference between a godly woman and witch is how irritated a powerful man is with her."


All right, mea culpa.

The first thought was sexist, anti-witch and pretty much everything I thought I'd gotten over in the last 5-10 years.

Just because I loathe an individual woman doesn't mean I should snark about a display that groups her with innocent victims of theocracy.

I certainly understand and, in even this situation, largely approve of that sentiment.

But we must especially beware of such utter Whores of The Patriarchy as Palin. And she IS more than just a slave; she is an active warrior for her masters and, as such, is no longer fully entitled to the protection of Sisterhood.

We are but human, and this election unlike any we've ever experienced. The rhetoric flying around has convinced me more firmly than ever that I'm not any -ist or -ism: all the people who are ists and isms are telling me that I'm not, and they seem so very sure.
