Not a good evening
Sep. 13th, 2008 10:41 pmThe run went pretty well, but as I was leaving the last stop, I got a phone call from Bun.
"Jonner tripped Dollface! I can't get the bleeding stopped!"
It seems my baby was carrying a gallon pickle jar through the front hallway (stone paved, hardest floor in the house) when Jonner tripped her.
Bun did an excellent first aid job, but Dollface was still bleeding when I got home half an hour later.
I spent 3 hours in our local emergency room with a bleeding kid. I'd never actually SEEN subcutaneous fat before tonight. But Dr. O was a warm, careful lady from Nigeria who made my baby feel better.
Dollface has inherited Mudd's resistance to -caine drugs and the Lidocaine only kicked in at the last stitch. She has 3 stitches on the back of her arm, and two glued cuts.
She was very brave.

Date: 2008-09-14 04:21 am (UTC)I have never in my life watched stitches. I can't bear the sight of needles near flesh.
She'll be fine. She cried some, but she was at the end of her Big Brave Girl rope after 3 hours.

Date: 2008-09-14 06:54 pm (UTC)Me, I had an incident carrying a dingy I was repairing and filled my hands with long-strand industrial fibreglass. The fibres ran right through my fingers, then shattered inside. My fingers were spitting it out for months. It was so gross. But, it did come out and it didn't hurt at all when it came out. Just like ptooie! and it'd pop out. If she's lucky, she'll get to gross everyone out.

Date: 2008-09-14 05:52 am (UTC)Funny. My own injuries don't upset me but my partner or my kitty gets hurt and something just scrunches up inside and it's everything I can do to keep from coming totally unglued. I can't imagine how awful it would be if it were a child.

I assume Jonner is punished until the End of The World?

Jonner gets a lifelong punishment: knowing that scar on his beloved baby sister is his fault.

Date: 2008-09-14 12:54 pm (UTC)Weirdly enough, I spent three hours in *our* emergency room last night after my son whacked his broken arm into the door frame. It must have been the night for it.
