The run went pretty well, but as I was leaving the last stop, I got a phone call from Bun.

"Jonner tripped Dollface! I can't get the bleeding stopped!"

It seems my baby was carrying a gallon pickle jar through the front hallway (stone paved, hardest floor in the house) when Jonner tripped her.

Bun did an excellent first aid job, but Dollface was still bleeding when I got home half an hour later.

I spent 3 hours in our local emergency room with a bleeding kid. I'd never actually SEEN subcutaneous fat before tonight. But Dr. O was a warm, careful lady from Nigeria who made my baby feel better.

Dollface has inherited Mudd's resistance to -caine drugs and the Lidocaine only kicked in at the last stitch. She has 3 stitches on the back of her arm, and two glued cuts.

She was very brave.

Aw poor Dollface!

She's sleeping now. We think there is still glass in her arm, but the dr couldn't find it after an X-ray and a .5 cm incision to lengthen the cut.

I've seen subcutaneous fat, but never on my child. That's a whole different level. :( Hugs to Dollface.

The weird part was I watched the doc stitch her.

I have never in my life watched stitches. I can't bear the sight of needles near flesh.

She'll be fine. She cried some, but she was at the end of her Big Brave Girl rope after 3 hours.

My heavens. :( I expect Jonner's not too proud of himself right now. I'm glad she's okay. That's a really scary thing. I'm sure the glass will work itself out if there's any left. You'll know. Poor Dollface. Poor Bun. Poor Mommy. :( I'm resistant to all those drugs, myself. She has my sympathies.

She's doing just fine. her arm's a little sore, so Jonner has to do her lifting chores for a couple weeks.

Bun is still shaky, but knowing Mom and Grandma think she did just fine makes it better.

My partner gashed both elbows open once, needed stitches in each. He fumbled a mug in our tiny bar-turned-into-kitchen area and dove to catch it. It hit the ground first and he landed, elbows down football-catch style, in the pieces. He still has the scars. Like Dollface, he was opened right up, and we thought there were pieces left in there. They never showed up, but he has had asphalt surface from playing streetball as a kid.

Me, I had an incident carrying a dingy I was repairing and filled my hands with long-strand industrial fibreglass. The fibres ran right through my fingers, then shattered inside. My fingers were spitting it out for months. It was so gross. But, it did come out and it didn't hurt at all when it came out. Just like ptooie! and it'd pop out. If she's lucky, she'll get to gross everyone out.

I'm really glad to hear that Dollface is doing (relatively) okay, given the situation. And kudos to Bun for doing as well as she did with the first aid. Glass is a bitch for wounds, since a freshly-broken glass edge is (discounting safety glass, which is specifically designed NOT to be this way) one of the sharpest edge you'll encounter in your daily life.

::HUGS:: to everyone who needs 'em.

We're all doing fine here today.

So proud of my oldest.

You're braver than I am.

Funny. My own injuries don't upset me but my partner or my kitty gets hurt and something just scrunches up inside and it's everything I can do to keep from coming totally unglued. I can't imagine how awful it would be if it were a child.

She had to lie on her stomach. I held her free hand and rubbed her back while the dr. stitched.

I'm fine in a crisis. I fall apart after.

Thank God for Bun

Tell Dollface that I love her and am very sorry she had to go through all that.

I assume Jonner is punished until the End of The World?

Bun was so good. Her first instinct on seeing all the blood was "Call 911." Then she thought, "If everyone's screaming, everyone's alive." So she cleaned Dollface up, assessed the wound and called Mom instead.

I'm so proud of her. She did as good a job as I could have.

Jonner gets a lifelong punishment: knowing that scar on his beloved baby sister is his fault.

Poor thing! I hope she's feeling better.

Weirdly enough, I spent three hours in *our* emergency room last night after my son whacked his broken arm into the door frame. It must have been the night for it.

Must have. Glad your guy is doing OK.

Dollface is a little sore today, but some tylenol knocked it right back.

I told her and told her who it was from.
She was very pleased. "He's so nice."

And I'm very proud of Bun.
