I've been catching up on these backlogged episodes.
I'm...underwhelmed. This is nothing I haven't seen any number of times, often done better.

The Bride episode: that carefully worded note let me figure out the twist by the third time it was shown. The church was suitably creepy. That big ol statue of St. Sebastian would have creeped anyone out. Also, Carlos? I want an annulment. This guy has an anger management problem that bodes ill for any wife.

The Eater: That wasn't razzing. That was sexual harassment. Where's her ombudsman? Where's HR? Where's the logic in this ep? Where's Standards and Practices? ewww. I knew where it was going when I saw the janitor closet. I saw The Pit and the Pendulum remake. I read the weird
comic where the guy takes fast poison before going swimming with carnivorous mermaids. And can we say some ethnic stereotyping in the Eater's looks? He has the whole "Injun Joe" thing going on.

New Year's Day: Who knew zombies could have a happy ending? The twist is blatant from the minute we see the girl. Look at the colors she's shot in. And strobing lights and shaky cam works are no substitute for plot. The ending of course, was in the "let's pretend we've been doing a whole different show" vein. But good girl and nice guy get revenge on heel and cheating best friend. I think I saw this one on Tales from the Crypt.

Community: I know I saw this on a Forrest Whitaker Twilight Zone. Cute couple escapes city to perfect--too perfect--suburb. I was actually surprised to see black and Asian faces. Of course, they learn the ugliness buried in that big ol home-owners' covenant they didn't read. Talk about your "Planned communi-dies" *insert crypt-keeper cackle here*

That's what these really need, the Cryptkeeper to make sleazy puns and laugh afterward.

The manuscript has changed a very little (the result of cleaning up a few stylistic things and getting off my colon habit)

I'll send along a new .pdf when I get one
