Poverty, Inertia and Spite

That's what I tell people who ask how Mudd and I managed 19 years.
19 years today.
We went down to the new Harrah's casino and tried the buffet. They had Chef Paula Deen design it. It was wonderful.
The salad bar was all fresh and really good. Too many green peppers in the potato salad, but that's my only complaint.
The gumbo was amazing. The boiled shrimp was good. They had fried pickles!
the cheesy meatloaf wasn't bad, I was unimpressed with the prime rib.
The cookies were to die for. And all the really good desserts are under a glass case and I was too embarrassed to ask.
Harrah's has replaced most of its workers with machines. No more cashier cages, just kiosks. No more slot hosts. Security and cocktail staff, some dealers. Even the roulette wheel is a video now, not an actual wheel.

Date: 2008-08-06 02:52 am (UTC)Poverty:
We're barely making it together, now. Neither of us could make it by ourselves, even if we split the kids up. And we're doing better now than ever.
Inertia:
We just never got around to splitting, not when things were bad, because it wasn't fair to stick the other with the bad. And why split when things are good?
Spite:
We are thumbing our noses together at the whole darn universe. We take everything they can throw: so broke we were living on scavenged food, mental illness, birth defect kids, all of it. And we live to blow a joint raspberry at it for trying.
So poverty, inertia and spite.
Works for us.
(Seriously, it helps that I think he's gorgeous, has a terrific sense of humor and is good enough in bed to keep me interested for 22 years. Doesn't hurt he does pretty good drag, too)
