OMG! An amazing review!
Feb. 17th, 2008 06:42 pmLiterary Nymphs reviewed Nikolai
"Nikolai is not a love story. It is not a story for the weak-of-heart. And it is not a story that you will be able to walk away from once you start it. A majority of the sex is very raw and laced with lessons in submission and pain, not gentleness and nurturing. So if this is what you are seeking this is not the story you should read. But if you want a story that is filled with drama, plots and lessons in survival, Nikolai is a story you will be happy that you have read. It will make you think, hurt, and want to hurt. And it will be a story you will never forget."

Nicholas Boyd, formerly Nikolai, was once the leader of the Revenant street gang. The one-time killer and gang leader put aside his life of crime and became a file clerk, upon reaching his majority. A request to lead the gang one last time for the heist of the century has caused Nick to return to his life of crime, but the price of being caught can be fatal – most men sent to prison never survive their first year.
James Ligatos is good at everything he does, but has a knack for turning promising young criminals into world leaders. He has watched Nick throughout the years and is ready to call his young protégé home. Ligatos and his team will soon discover that Nick’s resilience is more than they anticipated.
The world has changed and what was once the United States has now become divided into smaller countries. Each has its own laws and thoughts of how things should be. Kentucky is ready to split from the Confederated States of America and rejoin the United States. Ligatos feels that with proper training, Nick can assist with making Kentucky’s wish come to fruition. If he fails, Nick will have to pay a hefty price: his life.
After reading Nikolai I am beyond speechless and truly do not know where to begin with this review. I should start by saying that Angelia Sparrows is a brilliant author. She has a way of delivering a powerful and thought-provoking story. If politicians truly think the way written by Angelia, the world’s citizens are in more trouble than we could ever have imagined. Nikolai took me through a gambit of emotions. I never thought a book could make me hate a man so much while making me cry for another man’s hurt. I asked myself could I survive this or would I find a way to make the pain go away.
James Ligatos is firmly placed in my top position of hated villains, even though he would not truly consider himself as such. He was lowdown, underhanded and had a God complex that could fill FedEx field. And yet somewhere in his twisted way of thinking, I believe he was thinking of Nick’s well being. Some of the things he did or had done to break Nick I truly felt were unforgivable.
Nick made my heart weep in one instance and then put a look of disbelief on my face in others. Criminal or not, the blows that were delivered to him, were swift and shocking. To see Nick survive the events and stand tall though it all was something to behold. He adapted in instances where I knew I would be calling for Prozac and a gun with a single bullet.
