Had more than 500 books in your childhood home Not sure of this for me, but definitely for the kids. I came to parenthood with a huge library, ammassed one used paperback at a time. And all the books my parents and grandparents bought.
Were read children's books by a parent oh yes.
Had lessons of any kind before you turned 18 My grandmother taught piano and taught me to read music too. My other grandmother paid for dance lessons to help my coordination. I had no talent for either.
Had more than two kinds of lessons before you turned 18 My kids all had swimming lessons, and my oldest got belly dance lessons one summer.
The people in the media who dress and talk like me are portrayed positively only sorta on the dressing part. Definitely on the talking part.
Had a credit card with your name on it before you turned 18
Your parents (or a trust) paid for the majority of your college costs
Your parents (or a trust) paid for all of your college costs
Went to a private high school
Went to summer camp I sold oodles of Girl Scout cookies so I could manage a 10 day vacation from my family every year. My daughter has gone to Girl Scout and band camp. My older son is getting band camp this summer too.
Had a private tutor before you turned 18 Dollface went to Sylvan and we're paying the student loan for that.
Family vacations involved staying at hotels Campgrounds and motels, usually. Once or twice a hotel with my dad. We can't afford vacations.
Your clothing was all bought new before you turned 18
Your parents bought you a car that was not a hand-me-down from them
There was original art in your house when you were a child My maternal grandmother and my mother both painted. My husband's aunt paints as well, so we have five original oils on the wall here.
Had a phone in your room before you turned 18
You and your family lived in a single family house after I was 6. We lived in a duplex before then.

Went on more than one cruise with your family
Your parents took you to museums and art galleries as you grew up and plays and concerts. We have some excellent museums here in Memphis and when we homeschooled, we scrimped to buy passes to the Children's Museum and Zoo every year. Those got us into zoos and museums all over the country when we visited family.
You were unaware of how much heating bills were for your family I'm still fairly unaware since it gets bundled into the electric bill, which is about 150, year round.

Part of why I had so much as a child is my grandparents, plus a divorced father who needed outings. All my grandparents had set ideas as to what I should be like, and each tried to mold me some with lessons and stories and such.

I grew up in a household that planted an enormous garden, canned a lot of it and ate that all winter. We were on well-water until I was 14. Baths were allowed to be an inch deep, no more. Showers were not permitted. I remember the summer we moved into the house. A car accident took out our well-house. We had no water for a month, and my baby sister was in cloth diapers.

Mom made a lot of my clothes, and most of the rest came from thrift stores. I grew very rapidly and buying new clothes for me was a waste of money since I would wear them for three weeks.

I was an avid reader, and mom had been before kids. I had a library, and each set of grandparents had one for me too. My dad did some work for Little and Brown, and I was a test-reader for a lot of children's books. I didn't know this. i just knew Dad always had a new book to read to me.
