back to the grind
Jun. 25th, 2007 04:51 amI'm back to work today.
I'll get some IdleAire later in the week and type smut in the privacy of my own cab.
I'm going to see if I can run the northern states most of the week and then get home for the weekend. (I'm taking next Wed/Thurs off for the holiday)
I am ready to be back on a dedicated like you wouldn't believe, but I have at least 3 more weeks of the System, since all the car makers go to shut down for 2 weeks in early July to retool and set up for the 2008 model years.

The "D" Man checks in
My home computer is down with the LEGACY virus.
Nasty little background spam-sender from the Czech Rebublic that slowly eats up memory and processor speed as it does its thing while you do your's... until you detect it.
Problem is, when you delete the damn thing, it wipes out your boot programs in retaliation... meaning the next time you start up your computer, you can't get off the start-up screen.
No internet access...
No access to your documents...
No e-mail.
Computer tech buddy has my computer, and is having an irritating time putting the damaged or deleted boot files back in.
I'm using a loaner right now.
In a regular computer store (or Geek Squad help) this operation would cost me about $300 to fix.
