I slept 12 hours Friday. In the truck sleeper. That means your humble narrator is in sorry shape, o my brothers.

And then 10 hours last night.

This bug makes me feel like my sinuses are going to leap out of my forehead every time I cough.

We went and saw Bun. She's cranky. They earn points in order to move up levels for privileges. One of the techs, and all the kids, think she should lose a point for every big word she says. "Over-intellectualizing" the books call it. Somehow, "trauma" was not on my list of big words. She said something to the effect of "Your weak vocabulary isn't my fault."

The boys fell asleep before 6. Dollface went to bed at 8 with no protest.
Mudd went to bed at 9:30

I'm going to work a while on the Kestrel edits that just came in and then go myself.

The theme for getting Kestrel done and published

How bad do you want it
Tim McGraw

Father Johnson went to the crossroads, so the Legend goes.
He lived with his guitar and the Devil took his soul.
The Devil took his soul.

Been out here on this highway
Breathing diesel smoke
Driving hard for hours
Trying to make that Memphis show
People always ask me
"Son what does it take
To reach out and touch your dreams?"
To them I always say

Are you hungry?
Are you thirsty?
Is it a fire that burns you up inside?
How bad do you want it?
How bad do you need it?
Are you eating, sleeping, dreaming
With that one thing on your mind?
How bad do you want it?
How bad do you need it?
Cause if you want it all
You've got to lay it all out on the line

I get to make my living
Doing what I love
Every night I give my heart and soul
Sometimes that ain't enough
But brother, if you're like me
Lookin' down that road
Be careful of that wild wind, son
Sometimes it don't let go

Can you feel it?
Can you taste it?
Can you hear it ohhh knocking at your door?
How bad do you want it?
How bad do you need it?
Are you eatin', sleepin', dreamin'
With that one thing on your mind?
How bad do you want it?
How bad do you need it?
Cause if you want it all
You've got to lay it all out on the line (that's right)

There's always a price you pay no matter what you do
If you're gonna climb that mountain to the top
It always comes down to

How bad do you want it?
How bad do you need it?
Are you eatin', sleepin', dreamin'
With that one thing on your mind?
How bad do you want it?
How bad do you need it?
Cause if you want it all
You've got to lay it all out on the line

Oh, that sucks! That would make me so surly and uncooperative! An environment like that would have made me worse, not better, as a teen. I can only imagine how it makes her feel. Poor Bun.

Debbie kinda summs up my feeling on it.

It is just one med-tech. And all the kids. The little queen bees can't stand that she's so much brighter.

Her Pshrynk has decreed they are to do no such thing and that she actually is that bright.

Good for the shrink!

The rest of them can learn to use a dictionary and like it!

Sheesh. If she's using the words correctly and in context, what's the problem with that?

And that is exactly why our country is so dumb. We put no value on intelligence, and the kids who are, are made to feel out of place because of it, or are penalized. Over-intellectualizing my ass. That makes me mad.

Go Bun!

I might be able to understand an "over intellectualizing" thing if it's done to keep an individual from disassociating and compartmentalizing instead of dealing with their feelings, but cracking the whip because someone happens to be smart and have a vocabulary is a bit much. WTFyo? That's like looking down your nose at people that read great books or want to better themselves because they are "snobs."

Pish posh. I call that being unimaginative and uninquisitive. (Or, to not over intellectualize, fucking daft). ^_^
