ROFL! In my case, I think it's inherited. It was my mom's fave and my sister and I both reread it faithfully at least once a year (The Modern Comedy is on my nightstand as I write). I even spent a small fortune buying the 1967 mini series and will get lost in it for a week at a time. I know...I'm a fanatic! *G* But the writing is so exquisite: familiar and confiding and still as lyrical as poetry. Indian Summer is probably one of the most beautiful pieces of prose in the English language IMHO.
