My dad's in town so there was lunch and swimming and a movie and dinner.

I took the two bigs to see X3: Love in Action
White assimilationist suburban gay folk kick ethnic radical urban queer butt
slashapalooza
The "I <3 Beast" flick.

All that said, it was gay beyond all expectations of gayness.

Charles and Erik are SOOOOOOOO married. And still very much in love, even at this late date while politics tear them apart. And they love their daughter, Jean.

Beast. OMG Beast! *loves on Big Blue beyond all sane numbers* I enjoyed him at FH while [livejournal.com profile] drewbeartx was playing him. But this was amazing. I could totally marry Hank McCoy, blue and all.

Leech was so very beautiful. Such a lovely child. And Kitty thinks fast on her feet.

Angel was hot. Hot hot hot. I'm crazy about wings...

And OMG! The Subtext. The Scott/Logan. The Logan/Hank. (I hear you're quite the animal) Iceman/Pyro.

GUHHHHHHH!

And Evil!Jean. Rowrrrr!

It struck me as insanely funny when the mother in the minivan, who has just seen an extreme demonstration of Magneto's power, locked the doors.

And Bun tells me I now have to work Logan's line "Way to go, Furball" into "Singing Up the Moon's" rewrites. (I have)

Bunny and I sat together, grasping hands at esp. slashy moments. We said nothing, out of deference to the others in the theatre. Obi sat way in the back so as not to be embarrassed by Mom and sis.

OK, we kind of nattered through the previews. She wants to see Omen, and I said she could on cable. And there was the Well-of-Souls Dolby sound check, with the requisite "They're digging in the wrong place" quote.

They're remaking The Wicker Man with Nick Cage. I can't see him filling Edward Woodward's shoes, let alone Christopher Lee's.

Must See POTC 2! The end.

Re: X-Men subtext

Sub? There was sub in that text? Where? [g]

Erik/Charles = canon. Seriously. What else are fans to do with lines like that? "I need you." Oy.

Kind of annoyed with what they did to Scott, though. Yeah, I know, it's a comicverse, where people come back from the dead and/or change the universe to suit themselves even more frequently than in scifi, but still...want him back.

Darth Jean was smokin'. She, Scott, and Logan would make an interesting threesome, except for Scott's current mortality issues.

Oh, yes, the (sub)text was everywhere. So yummy--gets me through many a dull workday. 8-)

Along with your comment, I got spam with the header "Dirty whores that love mutant dicks." It struck me as funny.

The subtext was the Scott/Logan.

Charles/Erik is so canon it hurts. Charles Xavier comes from money and had a wealthy wife. He left her, his family fortune and his infant child to live in poverty with Erik.
(comic canon)

It was the "Oh Charles, I like this one" line that convinced me. No straight man would deliver a line in that way.

And Arclight was so amazingly androgynous, if it hadn't been for the bra, i'd have thought she was a boy.

Re: spam
How...appropriate. ::chortles with glee::

Re: Scott/Logan subtext
Yeah, I know it's subtext. But it's such obvious subtext, which is what prompted the "sub? what sub?" comment. So very slashy. With a frisson of threesome. But then, the whole universe abounds with mutant = gay symbolism, doesn't it? Or do I read it wrong?

Re: Charles/Erik
Wow, I didn't realize it was as canon as that. I have a passing familiarity with the original comics, borrowed from a friend, and the old Saturday morning cartoon, but the deeper/more recent comic canon is beyond my ken. Yay, canon!

Re: Arclight
A new-to-me mutant, but yeah, I was getting a real warrior princess vibe from her. Masculine in occupation and attitude, but with cleavage.

And the Hank/Logan wasn't very sub either.

You are SO not reading the "mutant=gay" text wrong. My daughter and I saw a very gay movie. It was blatent enough in the first couple that Fungus on the Family remarked about it.

Arclight... Not much cleavage. Omahyra Mota is beautiful in an androgyne sort of way. Like a lot of them, she's scrawny and flat-chested. because models aren't meant to be women, but walking clothese hangers.
The original is a Vietnam vet.

[snicker] And got their panties in a bunch, no doubt.

Interesting recasting--this Arclight is a veteran of a different war, but no less battle-scarred.
