As July approaches, and the time for hearing about Nikolai from Venus Press with it, I begin to wonder.

If I get a third rejection, maybe it's time for a major rewrite before sending it out again. I know some readers are having problems with the fact he doesn't change from a vicious psychopathic thug. He's not supposed to. He will never be anything else, all we're doing is giving him polish and knowledge and power, and seeing what happens.

The publishers are really having trouble with him romancing and betraying Charlotte.

It's the story I want to tell. I think there is an audience for it.

So, smething of a polishing rewrite after the third rejection.
Then, more presses? Or should I go with something like lulu.com which is print-on-demand?
The major benefit of that is "I have paperbacks, here, buy one." for cons.

Am strongly tempted to start a small press for erotica that can't find a market. Golden showers? Twincest? Rape? Underage (to a certain limit)? Bring it on. (am getting into trouble with Niko-chan as the presses say the hero cannot commit rape. Nick's an anti-hero and thinks of it as one more weapon in his arsenal, for use against either sex)

Now taking suggestions...

Stand firm. It is your story, and--sad but often true--the world and the villains who populate it are not always nice. Some people just can't deal with that. There will always be a niche market. Print-On-Demand might be the way to go, just to test this market out, rather than having to re-vamp your story to fit somebody else's Puritanical notions about the world and how it should be, and then have you be the one unhappy with it.
