I talked to the Vice Principal about the stair thing today. I explained that once could be an accident. But daily most certainly was not.

He took it very seriously. He talked to the gym teacher today, and Bunny and I will talk to him tomorrow morning. He’s young sounding, which means probably still a bit idealistic and dead serious about making the school a safe place. I said “It doesn’t have to be fun. I’ll just settle for physically safe.” I also mentioned my mother’s hospitalization for a fall down a 5’ flight of steps, a couple broken bones, and some bruised organs. I said I didn’t want to get a call some morning about 8:15 that Bun needed treatment and where would I like her ambulanced off to?

She took today off, being a bit achy. I let her stay home and watch Lifetime movies: Odd Girl Out, which is Heathers without the funny or the crudity. The baddest of the bad girls even LOOKED like Shannon Doherty.

And she practiced on the calligraphy. She’s good. She has a small one that says “Still the prettiest.” And a large one that said “Cousin. He’s my cousin. Cousin. Totally my cousin. In conclusion: Cousin.” I think she was working on the “Don’t meddle in the affairs of dragons” one when I left.

Dollface had an uneventful day.

I did my first work with eyelash yarn. Bunny’s pal Sam has a birthday on Friday. I’m making lavender poncho (2/3rds done) with funfur edging and hot pink flipflops with the same funfur to tie it all together. It’s going to be really cute and Sam will love it. She’s not much of a girly-girl, but loves pink and purple.

Obi brought home a SUPER progress report. As mostly, with a couple Bs. Jonner is all As except his C in spelling, which is up from a D. Very proud of my boys.

Had an utter geek moment. Saw the photo of the new Pope blessing the masses and all I wanted to do was photoshop in Force-lightening.

Am talking Floorplan or Dustpan…wait Panlor…for pain. Man, that’s the good stuff.

You know, public schools get a hugely bad rap, but I've been really impressed with how they handle that stuff. Kiddo was getting a hard time on the playground for a while, and the teacher took his break time to observe and intervene - and it worked. I told him I was worried that intervening would make the abuse worse in his absence - that was certainly my experience in school - but he said they have ways of redirecting and intervening now that keep the victim from being branded a tattletale or causing resentment... they go through all this training, in this post-Columbine world, to prevent the ugliness we all remember so well. I'm glad you've got a 21st-century group on the case.
