I so want to write a story that begins like this.


It takes a certain sort of Southern grace to be able to look a woman in her face and say , "Well, bless your heart" so that it comes out sounding like "You stupid cunt." I have lived here for a decade and still don't have the knack of it. But what does a rude, heathen Yankee blow-in like me know anyway?

Impressive talent, isn't it? I think it is a trait that is developed though years of heavy use of hairspray and sweet tea.
