Taxes, taxes, taxes
Feb. 13th, 2005 10:32 pmWe did the taxes. Oh my.
The Feds: $1400 refund
State of Arkansas: Owe $998 in taxes
State of Mississippi: Owe $2.
Don't laugh, that last is all that saves us from owing another $50 in penalties to AR.
But, this is the last year we have to file MS taxes, which helps a lot.
OTOH, Mom and Joe owe about 1500, and are still paying twice that from last year. Because Joe works and gets SS. If they weren't married, they wouldn't owe nearly as much. Mom is talking about "getting divorced for tax purposes." (Which immediately put my junk-heap trivia memory in mind of Hotblack Desiato, spending a year dead for tax purposes.) I offered to remarry them religiously, without the legal component, and thus put them on par with the Amish and Quakers. I KNOW that Darvocet she's on is getting to her, because she was willing to go for it. Mom's definitely looking at another knee replacement surgery, probably before summer.
Half the junior high thinks Bunny is a witch. Not Wiccan, but a witch. Of the sort one burns. Ignorant, superstitious peasants. If we lived in Old Salem, she'd be swinging by now. I'm furious.
Obi is excited about an upcoming birthday, and after Blanket Day (Sat) we'll really get on it.
Jonner has lost both his front teeth and looks totally goofy. Must get a picture.

Date: 2005-02-15 09:09 pm (UTC)She gets mad and things in the room--things she isn't even near-- smash. She gets mad outdoors and the wind kicks up from all directions. It's just enough--coupled with her general oddness, the hyper-religiosity of the area, and her "Study hard, be evil" t-shirt-- to get this sort of thing spread about.
Too, it's typical Jr.-high-boy-meanness toward a girl who likes him and he can't stand.
I know who is doing it, and if it doesn't abate, the little boy may find himself facing down an angry mama. "You will stop crying it about that Bunny is a witch. If you do not, you will have an angry sorceress to deal with. How's your taste for flies, kid?"
