[livejournal.com profile] pun ran a Feedback challenge.

I drew [livejournal.com profile] plumsnickety for the fiction side.

Plum writes in several fandoms, primarily Smallville and Everwood, but with some misc. weirdness thrown in.

Have you loved your Fellowship today? is absolutely fall-on-the-floor funny. It's a sort of Giles PoV piece about watching the slayerettes watch FotR, and answers the eternal question of "Why the heck is this movie so utterly gay?" I think my favorite bit is the idea that they gag Andrew before they will let him watch. I can just see him geeking out all over them.

The Gloves is a very short Smallville piece that packs so much history into its few words I don't know where to start. Chloe has a pair of gloves. But the very fraughtness of the item comes through in a few tense sentences. "They were driving gloves made of supple leather, the same color as coffee with a milk and two sugars – her favourite. She only drank black coffee for appearances – black coffee was hard core, but she much preferred the creamy color and less bitter taste of the diluted version. No one but her father and Lex knew her dirty little secret."

It's all very tense, very mysterious, and doesn't resolve itself. An excellent Chloe characterization carries it off.

Plum is a mistress at humor, and nothing showcases this better than Chloe the Dragonslayer: Or How to Save the World With Rice Balls or Scones, Whichever is Handier. When the Kents tap Chloe to be the virgin sacrifice to the Smallville Dragon, wackiness ensues. Chloe's voice is spot-on through the story. Gems like
Mrs. Kent took the lead. "Clark's told us that you keep a sort of file on all the strange things that happen in the town."

"Uh, yeah. I call it the Wall of Weird, but right now it's more like the Box of Weird. I had to take it down when I thought I was moving. But what --"

are typical of her work. And wait until we see the Dragon.

Her Martha is an idealist, and poor Jonathan is just about over the brink of sanity. And he has gay cows. Go read it.

Thanks for such nice feedback! I have to admit, the two truly comedic stories are some of my favourites, but most people don't know what to do with them. I'm glad you saw the slightly off center humor. :)
