Good Mail Day
Sep. 20th, 2004 07:45 pmI love good mail days.
Bad mail days are when you get three bills, one of which is overdue.
Good mail days bring fanzines, SW Chicks Fight for the Cure pins and 2 liter bottles decorated like piggies and stuffed full of crochet-y goodness. OK, I lied about the fanzines.
Dollface and I ran errands: post office, bank, etc. This included lunch at McDonald's for a Hello Kitty toy. And finding out the blood bank isn't open on Monday.
We watched QL. The "Raped" episode is hard to watch, esp the end. When the bad guy gets Sam down and threatens "If you thought what I did last time was rape, wait till you see what I'm doing this time." All I could think was "Wait a minute. Sam's body is really there, and the girl's is just a hologram that everyone sees, right? Oh Sam, get up!"
We also watched "When Star Wars Ruled the World." Very funny. I love Mark's line about "He got made into a coffee table. It was just so unexpected!" And my Ewok-vision was borne out by Harrison Ford's crack about the end of RotJ being "A teddy bears' picnic." Some new backstage footage I hadn't seen. Still nothing of the infamous Medbay Kiss. And Kevin Smith was a delight as always. He does such good Meta. I wish they'd gotten him for the DVD commentary.
Is it my imagination or do both men look as if they've had their noses broken in the recent past? Mark's is distinctly lopsided, and Harrison's is skewed to the right of his face. They don't look bad their ages and the abuse they've put themselves through over the years. Kenny Baker and Warwick Davis are aging well (then again, Davis is only 33) but Peter Mayhew looks bad, and Dave Prowse has been notably absent from all of these. (His health is very bad as I understand. Many back problems.) Jeremy Bulloch is getting better looking with age.

Date: 2004-09-21 03:15 pm (UTC)And Mark's always been hard to draw. In ANH it was the Eyebrows of Doooooom! (Rewatch the scene in the smuggling compartments)
He seems to do most of his interviews from the right profile, when his left is actually the better one.

Date: 2004-09-21 01:46 pm (UTC)Is that it? I got it wrong then, I thought the bodies were those of the people he helped, and we seeing Sam was for our eyes only. It made more sense to me like this. Otherwise, you'd only have to hug him or touch him to notice that what you feel doesn't match what you see, right? I mean, have you ever considered the problem of height differences?
And who got made into a coffee table?
What I really wanted to see is the deleted sandstorm scene in RotJ... *sigh*

Date: 2004-09-21 02:37 pm (UTC)The issue is not consistant.
Han got made into the coffee table.
Or as an old con program (ca 1981) put it:
"Lost: one sculpture, Han Solo on ice. Currently used as coffee table. Reward. Contact Princess Leia.
Lost: one coffee table, Han Solo on ice. Bigger reward to stay lost. Contact Skywalker."
