A good day
Aug. 23rd, 2004 02:22 pmBreakfast didn't burn.
The kids got dressed with minimal grumbling. We found and printed pictures for Obi to take to school.
The errands were run.
The kitchen and front room are cleaner.
I didn't gag on the PB&J.
Quantum Leap was sappily good (The magician ep)
My toy exchange item came today. I sent a purple dragon. I got a big grey cat.
The body for Takhisis is done. Now 4 legs, 5 necks and 5 heads.
And there was League of Extraordinary gentlemen and ice cream.
I liked LXG. I've never read the graphic novel, and now I must. The FX were insanely cheesy. The Natilus surfacing and Venice collapsing both had me thinking "Oooo, Clash of the Titans!" But it was a fun little adventure story and Dorian Grey is too too pretty. The CGI was terrible. I couldn't stop being aware of it. But oh man, the interiors were glorious, and the Nautilus interiors doubly so. Dripping with silver and scrollwork and mother of pearl. And Oh my. Mina. Mina, Mina! How do I love thee with that swarm of bats? Best FX in the whole show.
And no, I didn't see the M revelation coming. Neither of them, actually.
Any movie where David Hemmings gets shot in the first reel is going to be something.
And Hyde=murder in Rue Morgue. Wow.
The thing that got me most, is that every character was looking for redemption of some sort. Even Dorian, who just needs relief from his ennui. Mina wants it for the killing she does. The Invisible Man wants a cure, and so is going straight. Nemo and Quartermain are running from their pasts (the tiger scene was great). Even Jekyll/Hyde. The way Hyde beams when Jekyll praises him speaks volumes.
A most interesting movie, one with so many plotholes, i could breed a warren of bunnies.
