No, it's not the articles that [livejournal.com profile] jkb and [livejournal.com profile] charlesks have picked up. This is from the one on the Senate fight over the Marriage Amendment.

"I think this is a long battle, and this is the first step," Santorum said. "I knew that when we began to get this ball rolling down the hill it would begin to pick up some steam."

I think some words from Merle Haggard--a great and patriotic American--are appropriate here:
"Stop rolling downhill like a snowball headed for Hell."

As for the rest:
I'll be under the quilt in the back of the closet. Come fetch me on the First Tuesday after the Fiorst Monday of November.

I agree any hypocrites should be outed, but no votes have been cast yet and I'd hate to see a homosexual Republican who votes against the bill outed simply because s/he's Republican. I look forward to seeing the vote record afterwards, and seeing exactly who in what party voted which way.

I don't think being wary of amending the constitution is a bad thing. I definitely don't want it to become easy, it's too important to change on a whim (and I'd definitely count the FMA as a whim). And I doubt the Rep's will try to crush the dissenters. I think they'll just do a "well, we tried" sort of thing and not mention the ones who voted against it. I've rarely seen Republicans call anyone a turncoat, not even Gray Davis. :) KC
