Not a good morning
Jul. 8th, 2004 11:25 amSo I'm waking up and I decide to do my self-exam, since I'm already flat on my back.
Ok, ok, ok, oh shit. A nice lump right above the underside ridge on the left one.
I'm hoping the lump I felt is just menstrual bloating. But I've made an appointment for my annual exam. Not too worried. Cancer doesn't run in my family. But the fact it hurts now that I've been prodding it and has been uncomfortable for a week anyway, that worries me.
But still. Oh shit.
Updates after the dr.

Date: 2004-07-08 03:09 pm (UTC)I have some lumpy spots that hurt sometimes (especially after being prodded) but the doctors and the mammograms and the ultrasounds all say they're cysts or fibroids or whatever the not!cancer thing is. Though we still do check-ups every six months to moniter them.
But my point is that this is something you *should* check out, but doesn't mean it will be The Bad Thing.
*hugs*

Date: 2004-07-08 04:15 pm (UTC)More often than not, painful lumps are benign. They may be fibrous, which can be helped by a reduction of caffeine consumption and a daily 600 IU vitamin e capsule.
Good luck - and try not to worry too much!

Date: 2004-07-08 04:50 pm (UTC)Does it hurt when you press on the lump? Does it move or feel corded when you feel it?
I have fibrocystic breast disease..it just means I get lumps in my breasts all the time that aren't anything, just solid (fibrous) cysts. Rule of thumb by my gynie is that if they move and hurt, that's good. You can also try cutting back on your caffeine intake and see what that does. Fibrocystic things are aggravated by caffeine.
(((Hugs)))
Praying for you.
