For some silly reason, i had a 9 AM panmel on Monday.
I honestly didn't expect anyone, and we had half a dozen.

It was what i called "There's het in my genfic!"

We agreed that to open a zine labeled "gen" and get het thrown at us was offensive. I suggested we submit QAF fic to gen zines. It's canon, and they are gay, therefore it's gen, right?

It was a fun discussion.

Bunny and i packed, and i was bemoaning the headwind.

Then we made our goodbyes and set out.

And drove forever.
I think Iowa deliberate keeps moving Des Moines westward.
I had to take about 2 naps to get us into Dad's safely at 3 AM.

The "Blowjobs are like waterchestnuts" analogy which came up in the equal/unequal pairing panel.

Shopping. i want a Tee that says "You don't need to stare at my chest. these aren't the breasts you're looking for. Move along. Move along." in a size large enough to fit over the prosthetics. I also want the recent issue of Bloodstripe, Millennium and Out of the Ashes.

Overcommitting myself to zines. Must write for Kathy Resch, Millennium and some others.

But leg spasms that keep your roommate awake just suck.

I agree with you on the het/gen thing, as you know. I picked up one zine at the con labeled "Gen" and was astonished to find an illo of Han sucking on Leia's nipple. It offended me because of the implied heterosexism -- "heterosexuals totally doing it right in front of your face still counts as gen." But the people who put out the zine didn't seem to understand why I was surprised they were calling the zine "gen," and I didn't get into an argument with them about it.

I wonder whether het is more of an online term than a zine term?

As much as I think zines like the one I just described should be labeled "gen/het", I wish that *light* het and slash, both, would be welcome in a gen zine. You know, where Han and Leia, or Han and Luke, just hold hands or give each other a kiss before they go into danger. I wouldn't want to see everyone get totally uptight on the idea that any hint of a relationship spoils the gen-ness. But Han sucking on Leia's nipples is *not* gen. No way.
