My LJ ancestry: I am the bastard offspring of jkb and one too many codes.

Bunny watched "The trouble with Tribbles" tonight. She thinks Spock is beautiful. It just struck me how great a physical comedian Nimoy really is. He is perfectly controlled, emotionless and yet funny at the same time.

I taught Dollface to do the space-hippy thing of "we reach." i can't wait until she hits her Aunt Jen with it. My sister is a fan too and will get it.



RE: the recent upheaval in Han/Lukedom

We haven't had a member vanish, and a sockpuppet turn up claiming she killed herself over bad list feedback.

We haven't been spammed out of existence.

We haven't had con artists, sparkly purple penises or any of the insanity of LotR fandom.

We haven't had death threats, or the suggestion we should all be raped by giant robots with robot AIDS and knives for penises.

We haven't had imaginary children, mockery of real (and very ill) children, or the suggestion that listmembers need to be shot like the rabid dogs of humanity they are.

We haven't had ongoing incessant wank.

We haven't had 'shipper wars (being an OTP list).

We haven't had the "Define Canon" listwars.

I've seen all of those in my time on the net.

This one's all been very quiet, very civil.
So I say we are very far ahead of the game.

The sun comes up and the sun goes down and hastens back to where he rose. There is nothing new under the sun.

I'm still confused over this "upheaval" thing. Was I the one who triggered it with my LJ post about feeling sad? I wasn't so much distressed over the relocation of EL in itself, but that I saw it as a symbol of all the changes I personally have been through in my fannish experience. I never wanted to upset others or make it seem like this was a horrendous change for the fandom, because it wasn't/isn't. It just had a personal significance to me that no one else would necessarily feel, because not all of my feelings are related to the fandom per se, but to my relationships with certain people. And the timing was bad in that regard. (As with so much in life. *g*)

Let's just say there were enough questions, insinuations and introspection that some feelings were badly hurt.

I don't get the whole thing, your side or any other. Websites move all the time. Shabby Blue had the Oldest Established Floating smut site until he just gave it up.

Thanks for the clarification. As far as I could tell I was the only person who even noticed/commented on the change and so I remain puzzled. It's okay not to get the whole thing - I'm not sure I do either, and apparently I'm at the heart of it! It seems best that I simply shut up at this point, as anything I say will probably only make things worse.

So Shabby gave up on his site in the end? I can't say I'm sorry. He posted my one little vignette without permission and ignored my requests to remove it.
