I watched Hanover Street (1979) this weekend.

It's a little bitty Romance that tried to be Casablanca, but without Humphrey Bogart, et.al. It suffers by comparison.

Leslie-Ann Down is Maggie, a lovely English nurse who loses her spot on the bus to a cocky, smug American pilot, David Halloran (Harrison Ford sporting that go-to-hell grin that we never see anymore). She fakes him out, and he misses the bus. They go for coffee, and start to fall in love. They part, and a blitz hits. He finds her OK, and they have wild sex. (This is a late 1970's PG, that means nudity.)

Turns out she's married to Paul Sellinger (Christopher Plummer), a player in the Great Game as Intelligence Services was once called. He loves and adores his beautuiful wife. And they both adore their daughter.

But the affair goes on, until the day Halloran gets tapped to fly a special mission: dropping an intelligence officer behind enemy lines. (Guess who...) Shot down, he and his lover's husband have to complete the mission and get to safety.
(Thus making 4 movies where he's gotten stuck in a Nazi uniform)

But darn it, despite the ending (he walks away, leaving her to the husband who loves her so much) I want an OT3 out of this. Seriously, he looks more comfortable lying in Plummer's arms than in Down's. (long story)

A whole movie devoted to het, and all i want to do is slash it.

You know you've read too much slash when, during the rain scene where he drops to the ground, puklls her down and they may make out in the mud and you expect to hear the word "ch’uska" out of her mouth.

And Speaking of OT3, Mudd has a new video up called "Believe it or not." It's a Han focus, and not too bad.

Go, enjoy, feedback. (It encourages him)
