Eyes, too. I could feel them watching us, all unseen. No insect noise came from around us, and the air was empty of birdsong too. A lone crow cawed and the sound rang loud and harsh.
Corin seemed to be struggling as we walked. Cian took his mate's arm. “Better, love?”
“Aye.” The shortness of breath and struggle told me the old wolf was having a lot more trouble than he would have liked. I didn't like how blue he was around the lips.
“Have you had his heart checked? There are Nightside specialists,” Ramirez offered.
Corin growled at her. “Been to the finest medi-witches, combat healers and even surgeons. Nothing wrong with me that being a hundred years younger wouldn't fix.”
