The idea that there is One True Way to play, and everyone else is a posuer or an infidel who needs the Wrath of TPTB rained down upon them.

Interesting meme. I like your choice of "one thing in fandom you could do without." I might pick the same thing, unless I could find a way to boil certain other things that get on my nerves down to one item (it's more a constellation of things, so hard to call it "one thing").

What's "The Gate"?

Actors or actresses I avoid... Hard to say. Time was when I would've picked Tom Hanks and Russell Crowe, but then I loved "Apollo 13" and "A Beautiful Mind." Still don't like Tom Hanks or Russell Crowe, but I loved the movies anyway and thought Russell Crowe should've won Best Actor. I guess even if an actor gets on my nerves, I can enjoy his work provided he gets far enough into the character that I'm not sitting there thinking, "That's what's-his-name. He's annoying." *g* But then if Jack Nicholson gets on your nerves, there's not much hope there, because he pretty much plays Jack Nicholson every time.

The Gate was a horrible little movie about an interdimensional gate getting opened through a combination of a geode and death metal album. A boy and his 2 buddies have to fight off an invasion of rubbery, 5 inch tall demons.

It was so bad my Nicova and I were riffing it in the theater on first viewing.
We later decided we should have gone to see Ernest Goes to Camp with her mom and brother.
