What I wrote today
Jun. 13th, 2012 02:40 pmThe United States: New England, The Mid-Atlantic states and the Rust Belt remain part of the United States. The capitol has moved to Philadelphia. The new US stretches from Maine to Minnesota and as far south as West Virginia and Maryland. They claim Illinois, but so does Heartland, and US troops have secured Occupied Chicago. The US remains a representative democracy, abiding by the constitution, with its three branches of government, checks and balances. The economic system is controlled capitalism with some socialistic elements: public roads, public schools through college, public utilities, a good safety net and universal health care.
The Confederated States: The South rose again as they always said they would. Virginia to Florida, Georgia to Arkansas, the Confederated States are a lovely place to live, if you’re straight, white, Christian and male. The CS is also a representative democracy, with the capitol in Birmingham, but only white men have the vote. The economy is gold-standard, libertarian free market and the culture is theocratic. Church attendance is mandatory, the laws of Moses are enforced, albeit selectively. Indentured servitude is common and slavery is growing. Public executions by stoning are televised every first Friday.

Thoughts on writing
Jun. 13th, 2012 04:22 pmI write because I have to. I can quit, but when I do I am not myself.
I write first and worry about selling afterward. I write the stuff I want to read, and I figure I'm not the only one.
Books have been declining since2009. I haven't paid for one book on my kindle, they were all promo freebies.
Write, or you are not a writer. Worry about selling when it's done
