4) Media West Con. Cosplaying (must order elf ears and take advantage of the lace on sale), vids, and lots of fun. Anyone up for joining Bunny and me on a run to see SWIII? In Costume?

5) Con*Strict. I want to go. I'll see what finances and PTO look like. if not, vids and a story for the zine

6) ViVidCon: At least a couple vids. I want to go to this too. With everyone in school, I may be able to.

Prepping a Girl Room

Dollface and I went shopping.

She picked out Italian Aster (a medium lavender) for her walls, and we found an impressionist floral fabric for curtains. She chose roller shades, and we got a stamper-sponge of a horse (I'll be painting in a horn) to decorate them. And the one thing she had to have: a 7 watt Dora the Explorer lamp.

Everyone kicked in on her bedroom:
Mom and Dad supplied bed, curtains and labor
Grandpa got the furniture (headboard, nightstand, dressing station)
Grandma & Grandpa got the paint.
and Grandma got the shades and lamp.

Dollface has very strong ideas on what she wants, so I just pointed her at the options and she picked.

We paint tomorrow.

A gross orgy of consumerism, or why i hate shopping with a 12

Today, being my last unscheduled day off, I took the kids shopping to blow their Christmas (and birthday money) Dollface's went mostly into her room.

Obi got a Bionicle (a 200 piece one) he'd been lusting for for about a year. One aisle, one squeal and it was done.

Jonner picked out shoes with Shrek on them, some legos and a small stuffed Pichu (not mispelled. He's the baby and will grow into Pikachu). He still has about $15 left. My back was hurting by this time.

Bunny was a nightmare. We wandered everywhere: books, cosmetics, toys, clothes, crafts, shoes, electronics, housewares. She came out with a Koosh ball, a copy of Black & White for her new computer and a PotC poster of Cap'n Jack. I believe her illustrious notorious fictional ancestor is now gracing the ceiling above her bed. I was hating shopping with a kid who can walk into a thrift shop and find 80 things she likes, but in Wal-Mart turns her nose up at everything. (Most of the time it's great. When you have a Wal-Mart gift card? Not so great) Doesn't help that bubblegum pink is the color du jour. She likes petal pink and much prefers purple. Speaking of, for her birthday, we are paintign her room Rich Amethyst 94012.

I wouldn't have minded so much if it hadn't been a school night, if my back didn't hurt and if wasn't already on my 3rd trip to Wal-Mart in one day. But giods below! Remind me not to shop with a 12 unless she has specific ideas what she wants.
