Nov. 2nd, 2004
So I voted.
I wore my "Kermit isn't the only one with a Rainbow Connection" t-shirt, and nobody got it.
There were a couple of brief snafus:
"Is Arlington in our district?" asked one worker. "Where is it?"
Another piped up and said "It's about 3 blocks north, between all the Roselawns."
And one lady got confused on the spelling of my last name and started paging backward until she hit the Rs. I said "no, no, we're after Smith, before Spencer and Spurlock." She got unflustered, found me, and I got my ballot. Bubble sheets. Such fun.
Came home, had breakfast.
Bunny's not feeling well, so I'm letting her sleep.
Also? I figured out how to make phone posts.

Exit polls
Nov. 2nd, 2004 05:58 pmEarly Numbers Show Nearly 100 Percent Exit Polls
(2004-11-02) -- Early numbers from across the nation indicate that Americans are leaving voting precincts in huge numbers.
"While the mainstream media is abuzz with stories of huge voter turnout," said an unnamed pollster, "that's only half of the story. We're finding that as many people are going away from the polls as are coming toward them."
According to the source, preliminary results show more than 99 percent of voters exit polls.
A spokesman for the Kerry-Edwards campaign said the early figures bode well for the Democrat ticket.
"Sen. Kerry is a man with a plan and an exit strategy," the source said, "and his supporters are following his example today. Voters are moving in a new direction."

Productive day
Nov. 2nd, 2004 06:58 pmI hadn't actually planned to explain gayness to my 9 year old son. It sort of happened. He'd never seen my shirt before, and with my hair up, wasn't sure it was me when i came to pick him up. (he recognized my umbrella)
We talked, and it turns out he'd only heard about it as an insult or from overheard discussions. I explained what it was: when a man loves another man or a woman loves another woman in the same way mommy and daddy love each other. He's all "well, that's nobody's business then. And why can't they get married? I mean, I wouldn't want to marry Bradlikin, because after 2 days he drives me crazy."
(this from a kid whose sister makes lesbian sims)
Our Amendment 3 was VERY poorly worded. Not only did it outlaw gay marriage, it would invalidate any form of domestic partnership, AND allow the state to decide who is eligible to marry. I see another round of "Loving vs. Virginia" happening, it was that poorly written.
