Going meta
Feb. 5th, 2003 02:52 pmIs it me or are there some shows it is easier to be meta about than others?
Hubby and I were talking "Enterprise" last night and I came to the hideous realization of why I can't watch the show. i am entirely too aware of the writers, the actors taking direction, etc. I can't even talk about the characters as if they are real.
TOS, TNG and Early DS9, i talk about as if they are real. Later DS9, Voyager and Enterprise it's constantly "The writers are dpoing thus and such" or "the direction for this was crappy just so."
"They're trying to create sexual tension with Archer and t'Pol but it isn't happening because the actors have no chemistry. And Ditto the Trip/Malcolm. They keep getting put into slashy situations, but there is no chemistry between them that I can see."
It's like I can't turn off my critic the way I can during 24, or Buffy. My disbelief won't suspend.
