Balley's casino redid their buffet.
Dang, they've climbed the ladder a few notches.

Bread basket: Nice selection of 5 types, including a "grain stick" which is thick, chewy and very flavorful

Salad bar: Greens were pretty standard: iceberg/red cabbage/carrots. A little wilted. Everything else good. Antipasto needed refilling as was down to a single giant lump of cauliflower.

Soup: crawfish-dill bisque. Oh gods. This was lethal! So thick and creamy. Rich sauce with dill, and lots and lots of chewy little crawdads. I had 2 bowls.

Down-Home bar: all right. The shrimp is still stunningly mediocre. The seafood salad makes liberal use of dill and chervil, very nice. Dollface ate all her BBQ chicken. The pot-roast was tender and flavorful. Obi-Chris ate 2 pieces of catfish, so it must have been really good. The prime-rib was over done, and dry even with the au-jus.

Oriental: The curry was ok, not a strong curry flavor. The peanut sate was gummy, and the sauce had a bland flavor and nasty mouth-feel. The egg-rolls were good.

The pasta: the lasagna was pretty standard fare. Not nasty like it used to be. The pork with wild mushrooms was very good.

I had a decadent pecan pie with brandy and chocolate in it for dessert. the dessert selection has improved immeasurably. From 3 kinds of cookies and 2 cobblers to pies, cheesecakes, cake, cookies, ice cream and sugar free.

And best of all, it was ladies' night so my dinner was free!

Dang! Three pages in one evening.

No wonder I have the shakes. Maybe i should just go watch RotJ with my oldest son. They should be at about "Fly Casual" or maybe "R2, I don't think that's a good idea."
