This year's 50 book project
Dec. 29th, 2013 08:55 pmI managed 33 books in 2013. Not my usual 50, but still, some reading. I think I need to relax my "No reread" rule for next year.

* is one I'm in or have written
*Butt Pirates in Space. SF. M/M. anthology. Better than I expected.
Skin Trade. Laurell K Hamilton. An Anita Blake. Anita is always at her best when working.
*Turning the Tables. F/m, pegging anthology. Good collection, very hot.
*Forgotten Menagerie. M/M, shifter anthology. Entertaining. Lead story is great fun.
Dreadmire. Elizabeth Donald. Fantasy. Float trip to Hell in a swamp adventure.
Grave Peril. Jim Butcher. UF. Dresden book 3. Vampire politics. Even LKH has trouble keeping me interested in those.
Fallon. Louis L'Amour. Western. Gambler pulls a swindle, ends up settling and becoming responsible.
Fool Moon. Jim Butcher. UF. Dresden book 2. One of the best werewolf novels I've read.
Sixteen Tons. John G Hartness. Bubba the Monster Hunter series. Bubba vs. coal mine goblins. Funny.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Audiobook
Cat Scratch Fever. John G. Hartness. Bubba again, vs. weretigers
Storm Front. Jim Butcher. UF. First of the Harry Dresden books. Entertaining.
Ballet of Blood. John G Hartness. Bubba vs a vampire ballet troupe.
Ordinarily fabulous. Kiernan Kelly. M/M drag romance, interesting resolution, as the course of love never runs smooth.
*Curse of the Pharaoh's Manicurists. Read to get back into the Edward and Charlie mindset.
Voodoo Children. John G. Hartness. Bubba vs. zombie invasion
Touched. AJ Aalto. UF. Woman is day-sitter for a vampire and caught in a murder mystery. One to watch.
How to Distract a Duchess. Mia Marlowe. M?F historical about artistic duchess and sexy scion. Just fun.
Spook House. Michael West. Horror. Good tension, good gore. West is always good. (And a sweetie)
Magnetism. Kim Knox. M/F, sf. Not a bad little short. actually had some plot in the sex.
*Hard Reboot. First post-publication reread.
The Women Men Don't See. James Tiptree Jr. Classic SF short story.
The Late Night Horror Show. Bryan D. Smith. Horror. Good to see him writing again. Classic horror of being dumped into movie the characters are watching.
The Crawling Abbatoir. Martin Mindt. Horror. horrifying yet hilarious.
Reaper Man. Terry Prachett. Fantasy. Death takes a holiday in classic Discworld style.
Cannibal Fat Camp. Mark Scioneaux & David C. Hayes. Horror. Abandoned campers turn to fascism and cannibalism. Funny yet horrible.
Cat's Meow. Nicole Austin. M/F, shifters. Not bad, but too much sex.
10 Days at Most. CR Byron. Horror. Socially phobic boy survives zombie apocalypse.
Ender's Game. Orson Scott Card. SF. I came to this book at the wrong time. It was not transformative for me, but rather a dreary study in child abuse used to make an innocent genocidal killer.
*Love that Never dies. Undead romance anthology. a mixed bag. Some very good, some merely workmanlike.
*Long Term.
*Sky-Rat
Dark Faith 2: Invocations. Mixed and unmemorable collection of faith and horror. I need to write my review of it, but I am hard pressed to remember any of the pieces.
