I love this picture. Michael Ealy is a handsome man and those light eyes are just sexy as can be. This is Adrien from "Hunger for the Edge." Adric from the Eight Thrones universe, Adlai from Privateer's Treasure.
David Krummholz has come a long way since Camp Chippawa. He's Danior Camomescro in the Howl at the Mistletoe series. Damien in "Stolen Chocolate Tastes Sweetest" and Damiano the quartermaster in Privateer's Treasure and Privateer Plundered. He's also Sam in "Paying Forfeits" and "Thigh to Thigh" Lately, he's been Niall O'Neill, the Timberwolf, in "Swimming through the Net" and Hard Reboot.
There weren't many pictures of Jamie Campbell Bower when I first started looking. He's my all-purpose androgynous muse, Pelton.

Escaped murderer Thomas Lanton in "Man-Hunt", University president Teague Albright in "Long Term" and gunslinger Matt Court in "Showdown at Yellowstone River." Ulysses Carter in "Cherry Tart" from Ellora's Cavemen and Commander Cliff Cody from "Plumbing the Depths" in Queer Dimensions and "Pride of the Rangers" in the forthcoming space pirate anthology.
The Zara is one of the oldest muses in my head and put in her first appearance around 1987. I'd fallen for Anjelica Huston during Ice Pirates and saw everything else she did. Since then, my Zara has been Sarah Brown in Curse of the Pharaoh's Manicurists, and Zara Broine, the Technomancer in Hard Reboot, "Pushing the boundaries of Reality" and "Swimming Through the Net". She's Adele in "Skyway Robbery" in Like a Corset Undone.
The Eight Thrones Universe
Stuart Townsend hit my radar in LXG. So far, I've only used him as Chester in the Eight Thrones universe. Chester Gibbs rules Australia.
This sexy calendar model seemed to fit my notions of Carlos Abrego, ruler of South America from the Eight Thrones universe.
Nichelle Nichols, of course. A beautiful woman at any age, but now she's perfect to be Elena Esosa, the ruler of Africa in the Eight Thrones cycle.
Benta herself, the great spider who sits in Rome, weaving webs of deceit.
Pyotr Touchkoff, ruler of Russia. The grandson of cossacks, czars and Party chairmen, he dreams of restoring Russia to her former greatness.
Akino Tatsumura in a rare moment of minimal make-up. Ordinarily, she wears full geisha paint before breakfast. She is both geisha and ninja and trains the Daughters of the Dragon the same way. She holds China, Japan and most of East Asia.
Her name is Kajol, but I use her as the face of Padma Rambarras, astrophysicist and satellite designer who now holds India and the Middle East for Benta
James Ligatos and the picture that started it all. This shot of Oded Fehr was filed down to LJ icon size and I died of hotness. There was crossoverness, and that begat NIkolai. James rules North America for Benta's operation.
This muse is ubiquitous. He turns up every damn where. The Eight Thrones universe. He is Gemini in the Cyberpunk universe I write, "Pushing the Boundaries of Reality", Hard Reboot, and a cameo in "Swimming through the Net" , and the BarJonas brothers in a second cyberpunk universe in "Burning for Eight Days". He is Samil in Power in the Blood and "Between Despair and Ecstasy" from The Love that Never Dies. He even wandered through "Master Bear" as Master Jonathan. He's the inspiration for Daddy Frank in "Songs for Guitar and French Harp" although Frank looks nothing like him. He's also Ismail Dey in the forthcoming Privateer Plundered.
Tanis here is a hot mess in any universe. Although she is a premiere thief and hacker in the Eight Thrones universe and a top-notch Runner as Irishgirl, Caitlin McLean, in the Cyber'verse, she can never seem to get her ducks in a row. She was semi-composed as an academic for Dragons Composed. We watched far too many reruns of Billy Bathgate while writing Hard Reboot.
David is a busy, pushy muse. I understand John Glover himself is a very nice man who makes a living playing villains. But living with a demanding old queen in one's head can be exhausting. Sometimes, I think I write to make him shut up. (I know I vidded for that reason) Being pushy, he also gets more than his share of stories. David Inman, the Butcher of Cairo, James Ligatos' psychopathic right hand in the Eight Thrones universe. Sir David of Doncaster/Bess in Heart of a Forest. David, Gabe's ex, in Shell-Shocked. Nigel Drake in Curse of the Pharaoh's Manicurists. Erik Ezekiel, the Wheelman, in the Cyberpunk universe. Marcus in Power in the Blood and "Between Despair and Ecstasy". William in "Thigh to Thigh" and "Master Bear". Victor in "Raising the Dead". And of course, Professor L. Morganstern in "Tuition Fees."
And my dear Nicky, the other pushy bastard. He gets more than his share of the ink as well, even or especially since I figured out he looked like Aaron Stanford. Whether as the eponymous Nikolai in the Eight Thrones universe, Will Scarlet in Heart of a Forest or "Skyway Robbery", or a cryptozoology reporter in Dragons Composed.
