Do you recommend Ken Follett's The Pillars Of The Earth? It's one of the ones on the list I'd not read nor heard of before.

I strongly reccommend it.
It's fascinating. The story of a cathedral in a small English town during the Civil War between Stephen and Maude. (Maude is Henry II's mother)

Very entertaining, moves well, and great characters.
