My outrage meter is broken right now, from being in the red-zone too often. REALITY IS SUPPOSED TO BE LESS EVIL THAN THE DARK FUTURES I WRITE! How many times do I have to say this? Six and a half years ago, I extrapolated from trends I had been watching for a while and wrote NIKOLAI. Everyone was horrified by the CSA and its take on women. Now, we're rapidly moving toward it, and no amount of outrage or demonstrations is registering with those in power. They seem determined to alienate more than half the population.

Business: must clear up problem with B&N tomorrow.

Sometimes I have this horrible sense that the most awful things we write...by the act of our writing them...are brought into reality, fueled by the increasing insanity around us. I know it isn't true...at least I hope it isn't. But what we can dream, however awful...some crazy person can also imagine...and unlike us, put it, not into words, but into fact, or an attempt to make it so!!

And seriously when did 'A Handmaid's Tale' become the guidebook for the republican party?
