Billy Bathgate
Oct. 10th, 2011 08:17 amWhy oh why didn't I watch this in 2005?
There have been at least 2 perfect Nikolai moments. The scene in the bank, when Dutch passes Mrs. Preston off as Billy's governess, "the governess of my prodigy" is eerily reminiscent of the part where James introduces Nick as his nephew, sent to serve as his intern for a while.
and the scene with Billy and Mrs. Preston...guh. Not a word spoken, but she's not returning his kisses either. All the passion is on his part. He's painfully in love with her. She doesn't care one whit about anyone, doesn't even say good bye to Billy at the racetrack.
Kind of loving this movie, when I didn't expect to.
