Or Why Angel Sucks at Sequels, Take 1.

This will be an ongoing series of unfinished stories.
Today's is the sequel to "Benefits of a Classical Education."

"Mister Henry?" Lilah called as she let herself in the kitchen door. She expected to see the professor sitting at the table, drinking tea and reading the paper. He must have slept late. She busied herself making coffee and breakfast. Eggs and bacon this morning, and a nice cantaloupe she had picked up at the market yesterday.

She heard motion upstairs and smiled at the ceiling as her big hands moved in the familiar motions of cooking. A second set of footsteps followed and she frowned. Perhaps it was just Junior in for a visit, but it didn't sound heavy enough. She began making a batch of biscuits just in case, and scrambled two more eggs. The younger doctor Jones was very handsome, but he ate like a man who faced too many sandwiches and restaurant meals.

Henry strolled into the kitchen for his morning tea, only to do a double-take at the woman standing by the stove. "Is it that late?" he mumbled, squinting owlishly at the clock. "Good morning Lilah."

"Morning, Mister Henry. Who's visiting?"

"Oh." He'd forgotten her sharp ears. "Marcus had one brandy too many last night and slept in the guest room." Marcus had fallen asleep on the couch, and joined him in the master bedroom in the middle of the night. He'd slipped over to the guest room at dawn and mussed the bed, feeling like a teenager trying to circumvent the watchful eye of his parents.
