OutLanta is coming together.

Will need to get the trading cards made.


Convention going folks, if you went to a panel and an author offered you a collectible trading card and said "Attend other panels of mine or drop by my dealer booth for more" and the top card in the envelope had a list of prizes, would you be more or less willing to at least look into a second card?

The top card reads like this:

There are five different cards. Cards 1 and 2 have ultra-rare designs.
Collect in these combinations to win:

Cards 1+2: chapbook, original unpublished m/m story
Cards 1+2, 1 ultra rare: chapbook + spoiler chapbook for the third Nikolai book
Cards 1+2, both ultra rare: Both chapbooks and rubber duck
Cards 2-4: Giftbag (w/ ultrarare: +spoiler chapbook)
Cards 1-5: Gift bag with paperback
Cards 1-5, with ultra rares: Flashdrive with backlist and teaser

All participants get a free sticker and tarot reading.

The trading card thing sounds like it would really rock. Are you sure you can do a tarot reading for all the people who do it? That seems like a lot of time to devote.

I'm not planning on a huge reading, just a 3 pull: past, present future.
And they would have to come see me for the reading, so I'm not expecting to do more than a dozen.

I only plan on making 50 cards. The participants will have to attend my panels/reading, swing by my dealer booth or buy a book (free card with purchase). They can swap around (I have identifying stickers for them) and those who decide not to play are encouraged to pass their cards on to someone who is.

Will the cards be book covers with summaries, or the like? I think this is a really cool idea. I may ask your permission to steal it somewhere down the line (should I ever have enough books in print to justify having a dealer's table).

For OutLanta, I'm going with some fanart of the characters in the Nikolai series. If I run it at RomantiCon, it will be solely Ellora's Cave covers. For Fandomfest and DucKon, I'm thinking general book covers and a small summary.

I'm using the Nikolai cover for the back of the card, and then on the front, the name, the artwork and a quote by or about the character.

The art is being done by a friend who is also a big fan and is going to OutLanta as my flunkie.
