An anthology I'm in is up for the Lambda Literary award.

A couple years ago, this would have been "ooo, supercool!"
Then the award got exclusive. All pearlclutchy about the straighty-ladies winning it.
(My answer was simple: write something better than they are)
Now, only queerfolk can win the award.

I really don't know.

That said, it's a good anthology.

congrats on the nomination - but I DO understand your ambivalence!

Congratulations on being considered for this award, but... discrimination is still discrimination, regardless of whether it's the straights or the gays being excluded. I'd say stick to your principles. An award not open to everybody who competed equally hard on the same level playing field is about as diminished as the people who accept it.

I wouldn't be the one to accept it anyway. The editor would get that honor.

I'm not going into the whole kerfuffle surrounding the award last year. Some people said it WAS leveling the playing field to only open it to members of the community. Others saw it as a deliberate move to shut out someone who was a front runner for the award on the basis of her orientation.

I doubt Zombiality can win. There are much more "literary" anthologies up for it.
