Its been a COUPLE of those days
Nov. 6th, 2010 09:05 pmSo, on Thursday night, I get a call that one of my relay drivers has broken down and I will have to drive twice as far as usual on Friday. I'd hoped to get out early so I could go to the con.
But there was nothing for it, so I cheerfully agreed to go to Cabool.
OMG! It was so gorgeous along US 60 from Poplar Bluff, I thought I was going to cry! I'm, at base, a daughter of my hill-country O'Neill ancestors. I can live in the flatland, but I miss my hills with a deep longing. And being up in them, amid the glorious patchwork of red and orange, green and yellow just SENT me.
Yeah, a couple choruses of the Hymn to Herne were heard outside my truck, I'm sure.
Today went pretty well, until I parked in Jonesboro and noticed there was smoke coming from a rear tire and the smell of burning rubber. Any day I have to use a fire extinguisher is too exciting.
But I got my brakes put out, turned in the truck to be worked on and made it to the con. I sold no books, had nice visits and desperately want the Steampunk Skull mask from a local leather worker. I'm the first person whose eyes were in the right place to wear it. (but $45!)
Obi enjoyed hgis first convention, we had Taco Bell and I am home and ache all over.
And I still need to write.
