The Mark Hamill Fan Lament
To "The Irish Washerwoman"
Chorus
The movie's no good but Mark Hamill is great
Seems like that's our constant lament here of late
His talent's terrific, the scripts are third rate
The movie's no good but Mark Hamill is great!
Still trying to find the lyrics to the Harrison Ford Hate Song.
I may have to talk to alt.music.filk.
I want to learn "Signy Mallory." Leslie Fish is a genius.
Captain Signy Mallory has no soul they say
The captain of the Norway has a heart of frozeen blades
That on the bridge of the Norway she throws men's lives like dice
Captain Signy Mallory, her eyes are fire and ice

Date: 2003-02-19 07:07 am (UTC)For the verses, my idea was to have one verse about each of the sucky movies he's been in (not that I've seen them all; I can only take so much *g*). And there should also be a verse acknowledging that "Walking Across Egypt" is actually pretty good; other than that I think it'll be a pure lament. *g* I want to write some of the verses -- if you write 'em all, then I don't get to. But then I've seen some movies you haven't, I think, and maybe vice versa. Anyway, where I got stuck is that I need a tune; in my head, it originally sounded like "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald," but that's too slow and boring. We need something more catchy and upbeat. I don't know the Irish Washerwoman tune; has any folksinger recorded it (so I could hunt on Kazaa)? Once I know the tune I'll probably start coming up with verses.

"Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" is a HARD tune. And i keep getting it muddled with "Pride of the Angry Sea."
"Irish washerwoman" is the classic Irish jig. If you've ever sung the bit about "O'Reilly is dead and O'Leary don't know it. O'Leary is dead and O'Reilly don't know it. They're both lying dead in the very same bed. And neither one knows that the other is dead."
Or look for "Do Virgins taste better" either on Google (I know there's a downloadable MP3 on the web) or Kazaa.
It's a delightful song and uses the tune.
