There's a scene in League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, where the young man is attempting to appeal to Quartermain's sense of patriotism.

Connery lifts his glass, says "God save the Queen." The rest of the bar mumbles something to that effect and goes back to their drinking. He looks back at the young man and says "That's about as patriotic as we get around here."

Yeah. It's kinda like that.
