Repair Dyke Strikes Again

So, in a fit of butchness, I decide to repair the toilet.

We have 2 bathrooms. One had been out of commission for...much too long.
We bought the gear to fix it and I was all set, except for a deplorable lack of pliers.

So, today, I bring my pliers home from work. And I'm working away at the nut under the toilet.

Now this bathroom is where the litter box is and I have a candle lit for noxious cat emissions. A different sort of noxiousness permeates and I see the NEW nut is on fire.

I get it extinguished, with a second degree burn to my left thumb. And call it a night.

Repair Dyke is off to bed and will finish destroying the bathroom tomorrow.

Sometimes you have to cut the bolts with a reciprocating saw....so you would place the blade between the nut and toilet. If I am understanding you correctly then when you will need a new wax ring and new flange bolts assuming you cut the one bolt.
