MidSouth, take two
Mar. 14th, 2010 09:45 pmSaturday, I was up at a reasonable hour, ate oatmale and opened the dealer booth. Bun wore a beige minidress with cleavage and a black lace overlay.
I am definitely taking her to more cons and having her work the booth in it. The young men FLOCKED and more, they BOUGHT! The best story is the young man, so distracted by her ample bosom that he bought NIKOLAI and NIKO-CHAN and never asked what they were. When his mind unclouded, he was a bit miffed as he is not gay and was not interested in reading a book with gay sex. He went back! He went back and bought ABADDON and NOCTURNE for himself and said he'd give Nick to someone else.
heraldofdarknes swung by, dressed as a Servant of Benta. She let me have a look at the character sheets for the Vampyre: The Masquerade LARP she'd based on NIKOLAI. And she invited me to come play.
Somehow, I got scheduled for Steampunk 101 immediately opposite the Banquet. I gave Bun my banquet tickect, told her to accept the Darrell in my stead, and went to the panel. I understand Tim Gatewood had her play Vanna White, holding up awards and all.
The Steampunk 101 panel was fun. I met Nick Valentino and Kimberley Richardson is always a blast.
Then I finished in the dealer's room until close. I stole some quiet time, lace
reannon into her corset.
I made my 10 pm romance panel and came down with a bad case of Channeling Selina Rosen. "Why is romance branching into all the genres?" asked Jacob Hammer of Samhain publishing. "Because everybody fucks!" I volunteered. And they knew they had a wild one on their hands. We had fun, talked about paranormals and futuristics and where we saw the genres going.
At 11:30 I turned up for the Vampyre LARP. I played Val, based on Valerio Benedetto. Val is a Pander bloodline, a Mutt. I was the Tank. I was big and acted dumb. My first response to everything was violence. If I couldn't blast it with a sawed off shotgun or carve it with a Bowie knife, I would rip off its head. But I saw everything, made my own conclusions and kept Nicolai informed.
And as a result of the game I sold six books!
Great fun. Even if I did roll in at unreasonable hours of the morning.
And I was, as usual, first one up and opened the dealer's room. It took 45 minutes (instead ot the usual hour and a half) to break down because we had help.
My rolly-box doesn't roll anymore. *sads*
A good time was had by all. And I feel very old to have happened upon a young man I was harboring a Mrs. Robinson moment for as he kissed my daughter...
saraphina_marie, you wonder why I have given up on sexy? That's why. BTW, doll, you were deeply missed.

Date: 2010-03-15 03:01 am (UTC)I spent most of the weekend in the band-collared shirt, vest, jeans and boots, looking pretty steamy. Still need googles/monocle tho.
