I still have a job
Mar. 1st, 2010 12:14 amToday was the big annual meeting of the Dedicated Delivery Service. In Jackson, Mississippi. Which, for those playing the home game, is about 225 miles away from my house.
Last year, they fired about 20 people. This year, they've hired about 5 new ones. My run hasn't changed much.
Some of the drivers were asking D, the office lady, who I was, what joib I would be filling in the office. She corrected them saying I was driver.
And y'all were all busy this evening. I got Black Cord Fever as I rolled through the Mississippi night.
I'm tired. But I had a nice dinner, ate too many mushrooms, am relieved that I have another year on my terrific run and have learned that BPAL's Old Scratch is an awesome scent. (Old Nick, the Devil himself, as seen through the eyes of Victorian New England. A jaunty, dapper scent, deceptively genteel: a lavender fougere with tonka, amber, rosewood and a whiff of diabolical patchouli. A fougere is a top-note of lavender and base-notes of oakmoss and coumarin (tonka bean). The patchouli doesn't get out of hand as it often does.)
