Blessed Imbolc/Candlemas to those who are celebrating this fire festival. Happy Groundhog Day to the rest of you. Of course there will be six more weeks of winter. It's right at 6-7 weeks to the Vernal Equinox.

Time to imprison all gays. Will you please stop telling me I exaggerate the level of hompphobia being preached in this country?

McCollum vs. California is a vital bit of religious freedom that most people aren't hearing about. Basically, a pagan chaplain is arguing for free exercise for his prison ministry. California is arguing that only the Five Faiths (Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, and Native American) have First Amendment protection and all others are "second tier" faiths.

On the plus side, Earth Religions now have a worship space at the US Air Force Academy. The Academy has been the site of some pretty ugly dominionist activity in recent years, so maybe this is a sign things are turning around.

A discussion of assisted suicide in the UK and Sir Terry Prachett has volunteered to be the test case for the tribunal.
